Wildflower Fire

On Sunday May 28, 2023 at approximately 1:17 PM, The Escondido Police and Fire Communications Center received reports of a structure fire on Wildflower Place. A full response was dispatched to the location. The first Engine Company to arrive reported the garage of a single-story residential home was fully engulfed in fire.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the garage fire and then found the fire had extended to a portion of the living space and attic. It took 19 Firefighters approximately 35 minutes to completely extinguish the fire. The home sustained significant damage including total collapse of the roof above the garage.

Three residents were displaced to the significant structural damage. A California Fire Foundation SAVE card was issued to the residents to assist with immediate needs and the American Red Cross responded to assist with temporary lodging. No civilians or Firefighters were injured during the incident.

4 Fire Engines, 1 Truck Company, 1 Rescue Ambulance, and a Battalion Chief responded to the incident. Additional assistance was provided by SDG&E.

The cause and origin of the fire is being investigated by Escondido Fire Department Fire Investigators.
