El Norte Fire (Structure)

On June 13, 2022 at approximately 11:45 AM, The Escondido Police and Fire Emergency Communication Center received reports of smoke coming from an apartment on W. El Norte Parkway. A commercial structure fire response was dispatched to the location. The first arriving Engine Company reported a moderate amount of smoke emanating from a downstairs apartment. A working fire was discovered in a bedroom extending into a hallway.

Aggressive action by Firefighters contained the fire to a single unit of an eight-unit building. The involved unit sustained significant fire damage. The apartment above the fire received heavy smoke damage. No civilians or Firefighters were injured during the incidents. In total 5 Engine Companies, 2 Truck Companies, a Rescue Ambulance, and 2 Chief Officers were required to contain the fire.

Assistance was provided by the San Marcos Fire Department, Escondido Police Department, and SDG&E.

The Fire’s cause and origin is being determined by Escondido Fire Department Investigators and Escondido Police Detectives.
