At approximately 1:39 PM, the Escondido Police and Fire Emergency Communication Center received reports of a structure fire in the area of Escondido Boulevard and 10th Avenue. A full residential structure response was dispatched to the area. Responding units observed and large column of smoke and requested a ‘Working Upgrade. The first arriving unit reported 2 structures fully involved in fire, a burning power pole, and multiple adjacent structures threatened.

Firefighters contained the fire in approximately 35 minutes. A garage, an outbuilding, and a travel trailer were destroyed. An adjacent single-family home and detached garage sustained significant exterior damage. Due to the number of structures involved and the amount of overhaul needed, Firefighters remained on scene for nearly two hours. Units from the San Marcos Fire Department and Rancho Santa Fe Fire District assisted with the incident.

There were no injuries to civilians or Firefighters. The fire’s cause and origin are being investigated by Escondido Police Detective and Fire Department Investigators. SDG&E responded for power poles and power lines damaged by fire. Escondido Police Department Officers assisted with traffic control.
